So I just realized that while waiting in line to get into Spyder a few weeks back (with my fabulous girlfriend who has all the hookups.... and still couldn't get us in because Spyder is freakishly small.... and we are not famous), I got passed by one Taryn Manning. Check her out on IMDb.com - she's a bona fide starlet, and I certainly thought she looked familiar, but hey, everybody in this town looks familiar. Oh well, at least she's not Byron Allen... who everybody thinks they know but they're not sure why.

Summertime... and the BET Awards
Hidey ho! So it's summertime in Hollywierd, and that means HOT... in so many ways!! Actually, June is usually pretty yucky here in SoCal -- they call it the "June Gloom." But this year? Not so much -- it's actually been really nice and sunny -- and with the sunroof in our new car, it's been hot!!!! So, out cruising around, looking for a new apartment, we came across a bunch of celebs who obviously had the same idea as us -- enjoy the sun!! I've evidently been missing out by making my coffee at home. The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf on Sunset is the place to be on a sunny day. We stopped for a jolt (and a bathroom) and came across a full patio of folks -- including Mario Lopez (A.C. Slater to you and I... yeah, you know you watched "Saved By The Bell" -- don't lie!!), Jason Mewes (now I KNOW you know who he is... cuz if you say you've never seen a film with Jay & Silent Bob, you're either missing out big time, or lying to me again...), and one Gina Marie Heekin, whom I haven't seen since we shot "2001 Maniacs" together. :) We stopped off for lunch at David's restaurant and got to see some of the folks in town for the B.E.T. Awards enjoying lunch, including NAS and his lovely wife Kelis (you know.... her milkshake brings all the boys to the yard -- and now it's stuck in your head - gotcha!!). Trying to get home we had to run the gambit of all the Escalades making their way to the Kodak... when you see these awards on tv, think of us poor souls who live in the neighborhood and have to deal with a sea of spinners and bling all night. We're just tryin to live, people.... just tryin to get by.
Actually, this is day 2 of the traffic jam we call living by the Kodak... last night was the "War of the Worlds" premiere. And as much as I wanted to hang out at the Tropicana Room at the Hollywood Roosevelt and watch the fallout, I stayed inside, lest I be accosted by roving bands of Scientologists. Summer is the season of the blockbuster, so in the last few weeks we've also seen the "Herbie: Reloaded" premiere on Father's Day (ack -- the kids' premieres are a pain in the butt -- right in the middle of the day), "Batman" and a handful of others. And the neighborhood is seething with tourista humanity... as much as I'm looking forward to moving to a better neighborhood to push my kid around in his pram, I'm going to miss the freakshow that is Hollywierd. Gonna have to come back and visit.
Oh yeah -- at the corner gourmet market, a friend and I ran into Scott Patterson (Luke on "Gilmore Girls" - or if you remember, he was the spongeworthy guy on "Seinfeld"). My friend used to work on the show, so I actually got to meet him - nice guy. As I've spent a lot of time on the couch these last few months growing a bigger better Democrat - um, baby - I've been catching "Gilmore Girls" from the beginning. So it was actually kinda cool. :)
Well, gotta run -- I've become hopelessly addicted to "Law & Order" (regular, SVU, Criminal Intent...) and you KNOW it's on right now. Through the beauty of cable, it's on pretty much all the time... ahhhhhhhh the digital age! :)
Namaste cats & kittens.... ;)
