Caminante no hay camino,
Se hace camino al andar.

(Walker, there is no path,
you create the path as you go.)

-- "Cantares" - Antonio Machado

Life is a series of choices, good and bad. Wise and unwise. Well-made and ill-conceived. Your choices have brought you to this day, and will propel you through your life.

Loss is profound, gut-wrenching, soul-depleting and strange and wonderful in its own way. Loss devastates you, loss inspires change and thought and actions in you, but loss does not define you. It is a part of your every breath and rears its ugly head when you’re at your most vulnerable. Honor your loss. Honor the pain and the strength it takes to allow yourself to feel it. Accept that the loss will change over time, flex and bend, but never cease. See the changes in yourself - the beautiful things you now understand and have learned... Also understand that the pain is there and should not be shoved aside - it is an honest feeling. Feel it.

Very profound this evening (morning?). I am surrounded by people who have lost, we are kindred spirits. I am in pain, but my soul is healing.

Just when it seems we will never smile again, life comes back.

Namaste
